Getting rid of blackheads is something we all want to do, right?

It is defiantly something I want to do, and one of the most popular methods to remove blackheads is to use blackhead removal tools. These tools look like they have come from a surgeons arsenal more than someone who is suffering from blackheads, which immediately set alarm bells off in my head. I mean I only wanted to remove a few blackheads from my nose, and some of these blackhead extractor tools looked liked they could perform open heart surgery, maybe that is a bit over-exaggerated but I think you understand were I'm coming from, hopefully.

My routine consisted of picking up the tool and literally squeezing the tool against my skin until the blackhead exploded out. This at the time caused me a lot of pain, inflamed skin and even some deep pitted scarring which looked 10x times uglier than a few blackheads.

How To Use A Blackhead Removal Tool Correctly

Step 1: Cleanse the face using a cleanser that is non-comedogenic (wont clog pores) and exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells.

Step 2: Put the kettle on to boil water. Get a clean towel and bowl, once the water is boiled pour very carefully into the bowl. Now drape the towel over your face, lean over the bowl leaving the steam to slightly warm the face. Do this for 5-10 minutes.The reason for doing this is to loosen the blackheads and open the pores.

Step 3: Take your blackhead removal tool and press over the blackhead, pushing until it pops out, yes this is going to HURT! But I guess it gets rid of blackheads.

Step 4: Once you have finished torturing yourself and removed  your blackheads the last step is to splash the face with cold water to close the pores to stop dirt getting in.

My Results After Using A Blackhead Extractor Tool The Right Way

Did my skin look as bad the second time around using the tool correctly, absolutely not. Did it clear all my blackheads and leave me with model like skin, defiantly not. What it did leave me with was a few holes were the deep blackheads were removed, redness and a few minor scars, which could have been hyperpigmentation marks.

Now before all the blackhead removal tools fan club members say that this is all b*lls**t and the tools were better than anything available to get rid of blackheads, that could be 100% true for some people, we all get blackheads for different reason, but for me the only thing I achieved by using these blackhead tools was the need for scar cream for the next few years.

How Replacing 1 Step In Routine Changed Everything

Some of you might be surprised to hear me say this but there is nothing wrong with the above step by step routine, except one step, can you guess which one? Yes, step 3. The problem was by just eliminating the step the the main objective of removing the blackheads was taken out. The other steps were great for removing impurities, excess oil and opening the pores but step 3 is crucial for it to work, so instead of eliminating it I replaced it instead.

Yes! Green clay my friend is what I replaced step 3 with. Now instead of re-writing the whole step by step how to use a blackhead remover tool correctly again I will write step 3 here and just swap them over when you apply it.

Step 3:  Add 1 tbs of green clay into a bowl, then add a small amount of water and stir. Keep adding water until you have a thick creamy texture, once this has been created you are ready to apply it over the areas were blackheads are a problem. When applying be careful to avoid the delicate areas around the eyes, but also making sure to apply a generous amount over problem areas. Leave on for 10-15 minutes before washing off with warm water.

The reason that I decided to use green clay was because it has a pulling factor the can pull impurities deep from withing the pores to the surface.
