During the last few months Argan oil has become extremely popular for use as a skin treatment to help with many skin problems, some which include fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks and pimples.

I first discovered argan oil thanks to my hairdresser, who recommended it to me to help my damaged hair, not skin. The Best Natural Home Remedies For Acne Scars On Face

As if suffering from acne was not enough, once the active acne has finally gone, we then have to deal with acne scars. The typical time for a pimple to heal is between 2 - 4 weeks based on my experience, but when it comes to acne scars it's a whole new ball game because it can take up to a year or more for an acne scar to heal.

French Green Clay

By far the most effective remedy in treating acne scars for me has been french green clay. It works by helping pull everything to the skins surface, including blood flow which will help speed up the healing process of acne scars. To use green clay simply add 1-2 tsp into a bowl, add a little water and stir. Repeat this process until you have a creamy consistency. The next step is to apply over the entire facial area evenly. Wait for 10-15 minutes, or until set, before washing off with warm water.

Manuka Honey

This is a special type of honey that is made by bees in New Zealand from a native bush called the Manuka bush. When I started using manuka honey back in 2010 I was blown away by the results. After just the first use my skin looked healthier, more radiant and felt smoother than it had in a long time. The strength of the manuka honey I was using was 15UMF (Unique Manuka Factor). To use manuka honey as an effective acne scar treatment is very easy, simply take a generous amount and spread evenly over the face, leave on for a good 30 minutes, wash off with lukewarm water.

Lemon Juice

I have only used lemon juice a few times topically for treating acne scars, however I daily use it internally as part of my treatment regime to speed up the healing process. What I do each morning without fail is add the juice of 1 lemon (organic) to a glass of water then drink is straight. The taste can be difficult to adjust to but definitely worth it. Lemon+water makes a very powerful concoction, I like to call i the "magic potion" for acne. If you drink this mixture each morning without fail I can almost guarantee you results over time, not only for your acne & acne scars, but your over-all health and well-being to.

Strawberry Mask 

I discovered the use of mashing up strawberries and using it as a mask to clear acne scars by accident. My initial use for using it was just as a cheap alternative to expensive over the counter masks as money was becoming very tight. After mashing up around 10 strawberries and waiting 30 minutes before washing off I was not expecting any amazing results, but that is exactly what I got and it really made me laugh, just thinking how much I had spent on acne scar treatments when a few strawberries did a better job. What I later discovered to was other fruit would also work, just be very careful with what fruit you use, because I decided to pick some blackberries as they grow wild were I live. After applying the mask and washing it off, it stained my face, so instead of having a red color face with acne scars, my face had been stained purple, not a great experience as it was difficult to remove, and with all the aggressive scrubbing I had to do it made my face look worse.

Aloe Vera Gel

The gel that is found within the aloe plant is extremely powerful when it comes to treating skin conditions, especially acne scars. To get this gel there are two options:

Option 1: Buy aloe vera gel online or from a local health store.

Once you have aloe vera gel I like to apply it once or twice a day over the effected areas for 15 minutes at a time, but there is not set rule and leaving it on for less time or more time will not hurt.

Preparation
  • Make sure the skin is clean before using the light therapy device. 
  • Remove any jewelery, make up and other beauty items that could prevent the light from properly penetrating the skin.
  •  If you wish you can use your favourite topical cosmetic as long as it does not cause a barrier on the skin's surface. 
Mode Settings

There are 3 different mode settings, green, orange and yellow. Each of these modes has its own purpose which will be explained below.

Green: This is the continuous wave mode. It is the strongest mode and helps with increasing blood flow, healing and pain control plus soothes skin. You will know you are in this mode as a small green light will show on the device.

Orange: This is the low frequency mode, used for anti-aging purposes. You will know you are in this mode as a small orange light will show on the device. Orange mode is for users that have sensitive skin.

Red: This is the high frequency mode, also used for anti-aging purposes. There is no difference between this mode and the orange mode except this is for users with normal skin.

Directions

Step 1: Split the face into 6 sections; A= Forehead, B = cheek area  & C = chin area down one side of the face, and D = chin area, E = cheek area & F = forehead down the other.

Step 2: Turn the device on, starting with the mode best suited to your skin type.

Step 3: Lightly rotate the device over section A for 2 minutes, trying to keep the wand on the skin at all times. You will know when 2 minutes is up as the device will make a light tone signaling to move on to section B.

Step 4: Repeat the same process over all sections. If there are areas of great concern turn the device onto the green setting, as this is the strongest mode.

Step 5: Done! Turn off the device and unplug from the mains.

Recommended Usage

It is recommended that the device is used for 24 to 36 minutes per treatment, allowing a full 48 hours after for the skin to go through a regenerative cycle. Over use can cause the skin to become dry.

Does Baby Quasar Work? My Results!

Before using the Baby Quasar I had moderate acne, redness and hyperpigmentation marks.

I have reviewed a few light therapy devices, you can see my ANSR beam review here, but I have to say I am really impressed with the Baby Quasar. I used the wand every 2-3 days as instructed.

During the first few weeks there were no visible results at all. This did not worry me at all tho as I had similar experiences with similar treatments. It was not until around 2 months in when I started to see visible results.

The first signs of improvement was in the redness of my skin, it had massively reduced and for the first time in a long time my skin did not look flushed.

By month 6 my skin looked the best it had in a long time. The acne side of things had not massively improved, but I was not expecting huge results in terms of clearing acne, as I was hopeful that would happen when I begun using the blue Baby Quasar which is designed for that purpose.

I cannot comment if it is effective for fine lines or wrinkles because I am not yet at that age, but what I will say is my skin felt a lot more "tight" and "firm" than before using it. If you are suffering from mild to moderate inflammatory acne this could be the best purchase you make. I use this on days I do not use the baby quasar, for 15 minutes per session.

For anyone who is looking for an alternative acne treatment I highly recommend you give this a trial. If you do decide to buy the device do not fall into the trap a lot of users do, which is lose all faith in the product because the skin has become worse during the first few weeks, this is just normal procedure for products like this, and most of the time once the "purging" phase has passed the results will start to show.

Since starting my treatments I have seen massive imporvments in my acne, I rarely get any new acne breakouts anymore, and the spots that are left are looking better day by day.
